LabVIr - Virology Laboratory - Coordinator Prof. Dr. Marcos Lázaro Moreli

PRESENTATION

The LabVir has as your mainly focus the investigatation of Arbovirus (Arthropode Borne-Viruses). and include investigations of viroses in the family Flaviviridae (Flavivirus genus), Bunyaviridae (Orthobunyavirus), and Togaviridae (Alphavirus) . These viroses include Dengue, Yellow Fever, Zika vírus in the Flavivirus Genus, Mayaro, Chikungunya in the Alphavirus genus and Oropouche in the Orthobunyavirus genus. IN addition, The genus Hantavirus and Arenavirus are also studied. The tools and methods used for this Lab include molecular methods for diagnostis, (development and standardization of RT-PCR, Nested-PCR, Duplex RT_PCR and Multiplex-RT-PCR and recently a Real Time RT-PCR for quantification and detection of Viruses), isolation of Viruses from human sambles and mosquitoes when it is possible and Serological methods (ELISA, Detection of Antigens, Development a new tests using culture viroses and recombinant proteins for diagnosis). The studies of these arboviruses related to New Vaccines (DNA vacines, Viral Vectors). Bioionformatical Tools and studies of proteína prediction are developed and Phylogenetic studies are performed from sambles after obtation of nucleotide seqüentes using protein.
